We all are fully acquainted with the disastrous impact the novel Coronavirus or Covid-19 is having on human lives, trades, businesses, industries and above all on the economic health globally. Lockdowns to prevent further spread of the deadly virus have been imposed but even then the invisible enemy continues to spread its wings unabated. Though, except for only essential services, the lockdown initially kept people shut indoors, yet on popular demand and economic compulsions shops, offices, industries, roads and domestic air travel have been cautiously opened slowly. Being an essential service printing industry also got permission to run the presses by observing necessary directives.

The situation with coronavirus havoc and its impact on business needs to be taken as a lesson to work on sustainable business models, reduce international dependence and increase indigenous contributions in all streams of trades and industries. While we talk about our printing industry the world’s largest exhibition of printing and allied machinery - Drupa-2020 - has been postponed to April 20-30, 2021. Similarly, several exhibitions and events have been rescheduled or cancelled. In order to explore silver lining at the end of the darkness of Coronavirus, with dedicated support of service providers, some organisers have been able to successfully innovate in this scenario and by using the Zoom App have being holding different Webinars on topical issues of printing industry for those printers seeking answers to their queries live online. With ample availability of indigenous products and services the fear of lesser international participation is no longer the norm. Proper relaxation in lockdown is likely to see the life coming back on track soon in all fields.

The resilience of India as a country with its burgeoning population, intermittent terror attacks, natural disasters and other calamities has astounded a number of countries who keenly watch the bold and resolute steps India is taking to restrict and contain the ever-increasing onslaught of the virus. While we praise and strongly follow the guidelines set by our great nation, we heartily salute the devotion and determination of our corona warriors comprising medical and security personnel. Stay healthy, stay safe
