GM launches new photo coater

GrafiskMaskinfabrik has launches new Photo Coater designed for adding high-quality UV coating to photo papers including spot varnish and super gloss embellishment to labels, stickers and other roll-fed substrates.

According to the company a UV coating guarantees that professional quality photos, printed on paper using silver halide or digital technology, are protected against the effects of UV light, abrasion, fingerprints and other damaging actions. Providing the required gloss level, the UV coating also preserves the brilliant appearance of images and enriches the colors, as well as guarding them from discoloration and fading.

The new GM Photo Coater is built on a compact footprint and features helical gears to ensure minimum vibration for improved coating quality, while the drive train is completely servo-driven offering low maintenance tension control and registration. The coating station offers optional modules for lamination, cold foiling and slitting, as well as an additional 600mm wide rewinder.

The coater has been designed as user-friendly and features dedicated control panel with a graphical interface for the use of operation displaying the machine configuration, spindle directions and web path for complete control of all functions.
It can run either offline or in line with photobook manufacturing equipment and digital printing presses. An optional buffer can synchronize the speed between the press and the coater.
