Upadhyay Color Copier installs MGI JetVarnish 3D One to cater for print embellishments

Lucknow based Upadhyay Color Copier has recently invested in the JetVarnish 3D One and AccurioShine 101.

Started about twenty years ago as a photo copying unit, the company ventured into digital colour printing ten years later and has been a user of multiple Konica Minolta presses since then. Seeing the demand for value addition and wanting to do something different, they added the MGI equipment.

Company’s owner, Pawan Upadhyay says, “There were enquiries for digital UV and foiling from the market and there was no service available in Lucknow so we decided to invest in this equipment. For special effects on short run jobs we were using the screen printing and conventional processes. The new facility will allow us to cater for embellishments on luxury packaging, visiting cards and other short run products.”

The company is targeting about 40000 prints per day in the next six months catering to start-up organisations, corporates and other markets. The MGI press opens opportunities for them to offer services for value addition and new products like book covers, brochures and certificates.

“Jobs like achievement award certificates, stickers which were complicated to execute by screen printing and other processes are much easier and faster on the MGI press” adds Pawan.

According to Konica Minolta, in the last one year there has been an increase in demand after the pandemic from commercial offset and digital printers for digital print enhancement particularly from B and C tier towns. The market is showing trends of a growing demand for value addition rather than just prints.
