Xeikon to launch a host of new products at drupa

Xeikon’s new product range to be launched at the show include its newly developed Flatbed die-cut unit, the Xeikon FDU. Developed to aid efficient end-to-end printing and converting for folding carton printers, the Flatbed Die-cut Unit is ideal for nearline finishing of digital work but can also accommodate offset litho runs. This 2,000-sheet-per-hour flatbed system handles sheet sizes from 400 x 400mm up to 530 x 1,000mm and a maximum die cut size of 490 x 700mm. Substrate thickness can range from 160 to 890 micron for paper and carton board and also microflute corrugated board can be finished, making it ideal for completing offset as well as digital runs. Xeikon will also launch Trillium One, which harnesses the company’s liquid toner printing process, which was first presented at drupa 2012. A joint development project between Xeikon and Miyakoshi, it combines the expertise of two leading players in their fields. It incorporates Xeikon’s owndeveloped Tonnik, a liquid toner combining all the advantages of dry toner in a liquid format including: environmentally friendly as being de-inkable and economical. Its development ensures Xeikon users can meet ever-rising quality and productivity standards. An additional benefit is Trillium’s Microgapping process; the initial five micron development gap means that toner particles easily transfer from one roller to the other with extreme precision and at a very high speed as the substrate progresses through the imaging process. This improves register and image quality and creates increased density stability. Xeikon will also be showcasing its Fusion Technology at drupa. Following its highly successful launch at Labelexpo, Xeikon is delighted to present its new Fusion Technology concept to a wider print production market. Fusion consists of a series of embellishment modules released over time that are not just placed in-line with the press, but are components of an entirely new Hall 8a, Stand B20 modular system with the digital front end managing prepress, data processing, colour management and press operation as well as full control and operation of all embellishment modules, without manual intervention. Potential digital embellishment modules would present a digital alternative to hot / cold foiling; Screen printed white, Tactile varnish, spot print; and Braille. Filip Weymans, director segment marketing Labels and Packaging of Xeikon says, ‘Our Fusion Technology offers converters the true flexibility to produce virtually any label or package on demand. It will make instant reruns of previous jobs easy, since all necessary parameters are in a single digital file. More importantly, converters will no longer need to invest in offline embellishment solutions, nor will they incur the time delays and potential for error inherent in both offline and manual processes.
