Digital print server developer Fiery has officially become a subsidiary of Epson following the
completion of a $568.7 million (£448.4 million) acquisition from Electronics for Imaging (EFI).
This strategic move positions Epson to enhance its digital printing portfolio with Fiery’s
renowned Digital Front End (DFE) software, servers, and workflow solutions.
The acquisition was first announced in September 2024, with Epson highlighting how Fiery's
offerings align with its strategic vision and hardware leadership to drive growth in digital
printing. Under the terms of the deal, Fiery will retain its name, organizational structure, and
existing office locations, ensuring continuity for its operations.
“We are delighted to welcome Fiery into the Epson Group,” said Yasunori Ogawa, President
and Representative Director of Epson. “This agreement will not only drive further growth in
our printing businesses but also accelerate the digital transformation of the analog printing
market in an innovative way.”
Toby Weiss, CEO of Fiery, expressed optimism about the deal: “Epson’s acquisition of Fiery
showcases the uniquely important role we play in enabling success across the print industry.
We are thrilled to join the Epson family to drive the growth of digital printing around the
world.”
Epson plans to incorporate Fiery into its consolidated financial results starting in the third
quarter of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025. While the impact of this acquisition on
future business performance is still being assessed, Epson has assured stakeholders of
timely updates on any significant developments.
This acquisition underscores Epson's commitment to advancing digital printing technologies
and reinforces its position as a leader in the industry. |
