Domino India has unveiled the Gx-Series PRO, a next-generation thermal inkjet printhead
aimed at helping Indian manufacturers navigate the industry’s shift towards GS1 Sunrise
standards and the accelerating adoption of 2D barcodes in retail and supply chain
packaging.
The new solution is designed to print high-quality, GS1-compliant QR Codes and Data
Matrix codes at production-line speeds, addressing the growing need among manufacturers
for coding systems that support traceability, regulatory compliance, and digital supply chain
connectivity. Target sectors include food and beverage, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, and
consumer goods.
The Gx-Series PRO distinguishes itself from conventional coding systems through its ability
to handle both porous and non-porous substrates, delivering print resolutions of up to 1,200
dpi and speeds of up to 390 metres per minute. Support for up to four stitched printheads
allows manufacturers to achieve larger print heights and greater flexibility across production
lines, while a single controller can manage multiple print positions.
Reliability in demanding environments has also been a design priority. An optional printhead
heater enables operation in chilled production areas, and Domino’s food-packaging
compliant inks, manufactured in line with EuPIA Good Manufacturing Practices, make the
system particularly suited to food and beverage applications.
Tanuj Agrawal, Managing Director of Domino Printech India, said the launch reflects the
company’s commitment to bringing globally advanced technologies to Indian manufacturers
as the packaging industry undergoes significant transformation. The company sees 2D
codes as increasingly central to product traceability, digital deposit return schemes, and
consumer engagement through connected packaging.
The Gx-Series PRO is compatible with Domino’s existing Gx150i, Gx350i, and GxOEM
platforms, enabling manufacturers to upgrade current installations without disruption. |
