Key players unveiled cutting-edge advancements in print quality, speed, and sustainability,
demonstrating how digital printing is revolutionizing everything from packaging to publishing.
With a focus on personalization, automation, and eco-friendly practices, drupa 2024
emphasized the transformative potential of digital printing in meeting the evolving demands
of a dynamic global market. .
We look at some of the highlights in this segment at the show.
.Canon launches new B2 Inkjet press
Canon showcased its full capabilities as a leading provider of end-to-end digital production
print solutions and services. Under the banner of ‘The Power to Move,’ Canon demonstrated
how, in collaboration with partners, it worked closely with customers to deliver the
transformative technologies, expertise, and support that inspired and enabled them to move
their businesses forward. .
Across the Canon stand, visitors saw the complete, extensive range of Canon production
print technologies, including Canon PRISMA workflow solutions, Canon print media, inkjet
and toner presses, web-fed and sheetfed presses, flatbed and roll-to-roll wide format
printers, and digital label and packaging production. All production solutions printed live
applications and were arranged by industry segment: Commercial Print, Publishing,
Promotional Communications (including direct mail and retail), Labels and Packaging,
Interior Décor, as well as Inhouse and CAD printing. .
Making its European debut at drupa was the new varioPRINT iX1700 sheetfed inkjet press
(available in 2025), which would efficiently produce average monthly volumes from 300,000
to 1.5 million A4 images. The new press was positioned between the highly successful
varioPRINT iX3200 B3 sheetfed inkjet press and the imagePRESS V series of color toner
presses, which had seen more than 2,500 installations in EMEA since its introduction. .
Canon extended its sheetfed inkjet capability to higher volumes with the announcement of a
new heavy-duty, B2 sheetfed press, the varioPRESS iV7, for a volume range up to 4.5
million B2 images per month. .
.Cosmo displays new products and innovations.
Cosmo Films captivated the audience, particularly environmentally conscious businesses, by
garnering interest in the company’s eco-friendly and recyclable offerings, such as Cosmo
Synthetic Paper and Thermal Lamination Films. .

.Durst ‘Ready-to-Print’ at drupa.
The Durst Group presented its latest solutions in large format printing, packaging, labels,
and software at drupa 2024 under the motto "Ready to Print." The company also showcased
its wide range of digital applications, including the additive manufacturing of technical
ceramics. .
The VariJET 106 was the latest innovation from the Koenig & Bauer Durst joint venture, set
to pave the way for the digitalization of industrial folding carton production. By using waterbased
inks, it enabled the production of even primary packaging for food. Additionally, the
VariJET 106 offered a promising solution for applications in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics,
and tobacco industries, allowing for the economical production of short to medium runs and
individualized packaging. .
What had been missing in industrial digital corrugated printing until now was the color white.
The Durst Group has once again taken on a pioneering role in the industry by launching a
water-based white ink for the Delta SPC 130. .
With the KJet, the Durst Group launched a new hybrid solution for label printing. Following
the XJet, this was the second joint development with OMET. The KJet is an end-to-end
solution that combines OMET's dual servo flexo printing units with Durst's state-of-the-art
RSCi inkjet technology. .
With the P5 SMP, Large Format Printing portfolio, Durst Group is expanding its successful
P5 portfolio for applications in the Sign & Display, POP/POS, Corrugated Packaging &
Display and Industrial Decor sectors. .
SMP achieves an annual capacity of 5 million m2, setting a new benchmark for high-volume
digital printing. As a hybrid solution, the P5 SMP can process both roll and sheet material
and has the versatile functions of the P5 platform. .
.EFI Highlights Its DNA in Single-Pass Production Inkjet Printing.
Electronics For Imaging, Inc. reported that at drupa 2024, it highlighted its expertise in
proven single-pass printing solutions for achieving excellence in the packaging, display
graphics, and textile markets. .
Visitors to EFI’s stand saw some of the company’s latest single-pass innovations in action,
including the groundbreaking Packsize EFI X5 Nozomi, the world's first full-color, ondemand,
right-sized box system that prints, cuts, creases, glues, and erects customized
boxes at the rate of up to one box every six seconds, and the EFI Nozomi 14000 SD singlepass
printer for signs and displays. The company also showcased a wide array of
applications produced on the brand-new Nozomi 14000 AQ true water-based, single-pass
printer for corrugated packaging and displays, the Nozomi 12000 MP single-pass technology
for direct-to-metal package printing, and the next-generation EFI Reggiani BOLT XS singlepass
textile printer. .
In addition to showcasing single-pass inkjet printing at the show, EFI introduced two new

EFI’s Life Cycle Assessment tool for Nozomi printers: Developed in partnership with Clean
Agency, this tool documents Nozomi’s environmental footprint. EFI customers and their
clients can use it to analyze their CO2 emissions as part of their overall packaging Extended
Producer Responsibility (EPR). .
.Epson introduces new Monna Lisa 13000.
Epson showcased its new Monna Lisa 13000. The new machine is an affordable single-step
digital direct-to-fabric textile printer with a compact footprint that delivers in-line printing using
more sustainable pigment inks. .
The Monna Lisa ML-13000 is an innovative textile printing solution that requires no
additional equipment for pre and post-treatment, steaming, or washing. The new direct-tofabric
printer comes equipped with three types of pre and post-processing chemicals (pretreatment,
over-coating, and density enhancer) in addition to seven color inks. .
All these features make it possible to integrate pre and post-processing into a single-step
printing solution, contrasting with other conventional textile printers that require separate
processes. .
The ML-13000 also has a much smaller footprint compared to conventional textile printing
equipment, allowing it to be installed in more confined and convenient working
environments. .
.Esko has a successful drupa with new product launches and sales.
Esko enjoyed a hugely successful drupa 2024, where the launch of its newest advanced
packaging prepress solutions and its future-focused Innovation Lab proved incredibly
popular with visitors to the global exhibition. .
In addition to unveiling the new CDI Crystal XPS ‘Quartz Edition,’ the company’s latest
innovation that set new standards in flexographic print quality, Esko gave drupa visitors a
first close-up look at its groundbreaking new AVT print inspection module, which can inspect
and detect defects in varnish coatings during a live label print run.““Esko also used the event
to announce the launch of its much-anticipated S2 multi-tenant cloud-native platform. .
Adding to the theme of future-focused innovation, Esko, together with teams from X-Rite,
Pantone, and Enfocus, wowed crowds with its Innovation Lab. Accessible by appointment
only, the enclosed special area of the booth provided insight into Esko’s vision for the future
of packaging production. Visitors to the Innovation Lab had a hands-on experience with
software prototypes at various stages of development, with the team of developers on hand
to explain the benefits of the new solutions, including a new AI-assisted decision-making tool
for upstream packaging project specifications. .
This visitor-centric approach, combined with the innovative solutions in the Innovation Lab,
ensured Esko enjoyed a very successful drupa in terms of contacts with existing customers

drupa 2024 marked the first occasion where Fujifilm showcased its complete range of
printing technologies in a single venue, Fujifilm’s biggest ever drupa stand. .
The event featured a variety of Fujifilm's innovations, from commercial inkjet and toner
solutions to office printing equipment, printhead technologies, and inkjet integration solutions. Attendees also explored the latest advancements in Fujifilm’s wide-format range,
alongside both analogue and digital flexible packaging solutions, photo imaging
technologies, and processless printing plates. .
Fujifilm complemented these printing systems with demonstrations of advanced software,
including several new concepts making their debut, and a glimpse into the future of
automated robotic paper handling. Additionally, smart finishing solutions from various
partners provided visitors with an opportunity to witness full end-to-end production across a
wide range of applications. .
In addition to the numerous finishing partners featured at its stand, Fujifilm announced
several new partnerships during drupa 2024, including: IST METZ: To develop SMARTcure,
a digital curing assistant for Fujifilm’s LuXtreme LED UV curing system, powered by artificial
intelligence; XMPie: To provide advanced variable data solutions to the European print
market; IGEPA Belux: To expand the reach of the Acuity Prime by offering it to a broader
network of print service providers in Belgium and Luxembourg; and ColorBase: To
collaborate on the profiling of premium print media for wide-format printing equipment. .
The award-winning Jet Press FP790 stole the spotlight attracting significant attention and
securing multiple sales throughout the event. On day three of the exhibition, Fujifilm
announced the first global sale of the HS Series, an ultra-high production, high-quality
single-pass inkjet solution for sign and display, developed in partnership with Barberan.
Other sales successes during the show included multiple units of the Jet Press 750S,
catering to both commercial print and packaging clients, as well as notable sales of the
Revoria range presses. These achievements at drupa highlight Fujifilm’s strong market
presence and the high demand for its innovative solutions. .

Gallus One for label printing. .
The Jetfire 50 is the new digital production solution for industrial print service providers
looking for alternative production methods. In B3 sheetfed format, the system combines all
the flexibility benefits of digital printing with the stability of inkjet for commercial printing. With
a productivity of 9,120 SRA3 sheets per hour, the machine offers great performance
combined with high flexibility and reliability. .
Heidelberg also used drupa to showcase end-to-end solutions based on a single system
supporting both offset and digital printing. This capability ensures maximum flexibility and cost-effectiveness, especially in the commercial sector. By combining its offset and digital
printing expertise in this way, the company will provide customers a hybrid solution for

As demand grows for sustainable packaging, Heidelberg will expand its Boardmaster inline
flexographic web printing machine to include flexible paper packaging, an area expected to

The company also displayed its KGT-2513- Hi UV flatbed; H-Press 750S sheetfed digital

Kodak Optimax Pre-coater: This new solution enables efficient inline or offline primer
application to substrates for production inkjet printing. .
Kodak Finishing Solutions: The Prosper Ultra 520 Press was featured inline with roll-to-roll
and roll-to-fold solutions. .
Kodak Prosper Print Bar: Incorporating Kodak Prosper Plus or Prosper S-Series Imprinting
Systems, the print bar enhances flexibility and color-to-color registration accuracy in inline or
nearline hybrid printing. .
Kodak Prosper Ultra 520 Press: Powered by Kodak Ultrastream Continuous Inkjet

Kodachrome Inks, it demonstrated production speeds of up to 152 mpm (500 fpm), with the

The digital intelligence Kyana came to life before the visitors' eyes and introduced herself
personally to the interested audience as a virtual co-host. The myKyana portal presented
itself as the centerpiece of the digital product world and impressively underlined how
digitalization can increase the efficiency, productivity and sustainability of companies. .

production workflow from printing to finishing. .

.Konica Minolta showcases biggest machines ever at drupa
Konica Minolta showcased innovative solutions at drupa 2024 aimed at enhancing the
working environment of printing companies, minimizing environmental impact, and promoting
sustainable business practices. By focusing on automation and labor-saving processes in
printing, the company emphasized efficiency and eco-friendly solutions. The spotlight was on
the AccurioJet 60000, a flagship B2-size inkjet press making its debut, along with the
AlphaJET, which was co-exhibited with MGI Digital Technology from France. Both products
received highly positive feedback from attendees. .
The company signed over 200 business contracts with customers from around the world,
including Europe, North America, India, China, Asia, Oceania, and the Middle East. The

printheads maintain a gap of 1-3 mm, Konica Minolta’s KM800H-MR allows for high-gap
printing up to 20 mm. This was demonstrated through a cardboard transfer process, where

Additionally, Konica Minolta showcased solutions powered by FORXAI, which drives digital
transformation (DX) using imaging IoT technologies. One notable exhibit was an AI-based
inspection solution for booklet printing, utilizing a 3D sensor camera and proprietary image analysis. This solution automates post-processing tasks like cutting, folding, and binding,

.Landa concluded drupa 2024 with a historic level of adoption for its Nanography
Landa Digital Printing announced record-breaking adoption of its Nanography technology at
Drupa 2024, marking a transformative moment for the commercial print and packaging
industry. Companies worldwide ordered Landa S11 and S11P Nanographic Printing presses,
embracing B1 digital printing to boost profitability and sustainability. This shift enables
businesses to move short to medium-run jobs from offset to digital, while existing Landa

Morgana has launched its new DigiFold Ultra, a creasing and folding machine with full bleed
trim capabilities. This versatile machine can slit, cut, crease, perforate, and fold in a single
pass. Robustly designed, it complements mid to high volume digital and offset production
presses. .
Debuting at drupa 2024, the DigiFold Ultra enhances the capabilities of the DigiFold Pro XL
by adding slitting and cutting functions for full bleed trim applications. This makes highquality
projects like full bleed six or eight-panel brochures, including A4 landscape formats,
easily achievable. .
The DigiFold Ultra’s long sheet trimming capability strategically complements the latest
printing presses, which now offer duplex printing on longer sheets. Instead of adding a freestanding
guillotine for trimming 560 mm long sheets, the Ultra allows customers to fully

Xeikon, a division of Flint Group, celebrated a highly successful drupa 2024, exhibiting for
the first time in Hall 11, a hub for the packaging market. With around 2,000 registered
visitors, the Xeikon booth became a highlight, showcasing advanced digital printing and
embellishment solutions that attracted significant attention and led to notable sales. .
Key attractions included the Titon solution for wines, spirits labels, and paper-based
packaging, developed in collaboration with Kurz, Scribos, Sappi, and Koehler Paper. This
